Developing New Leaders
In 2 Timothy 2:2, Paul challenges Timothy with developing generations of new leaders. He says, “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” Paul took developing new leaders seriously. By the time he wrote his last letter he had mentioned over 75 people by name who were serving in some capacity. This process of multiple reliable brothers and sisters is how the message of Christ was passed on to us today. Now we have the privilege of investing in and developing servant leaders. Some of these leaders will serve in our church; others will be sent to new works. Either way, please join us in praying Jesus’ words from Luke 10:2, “He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’”
